Wednesday 1 October 2014 Media alert for immediate release The International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO) thanks Ms Jo Groves for her dedicated service as Chief Executive Officer after ten successful years with the organization. Ms Groves has resigned from the position in order to take up new challenges.
There was widespread consensus that drug regulators and patient groups need to work more closely together in Latin America at a multi-stakeholder seminar held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday.
Ascot, United Kingdom, 31 March 2014 – This was the call from Stephen Murby Wright, Consumers Health Forum of Australia during a multi-stakeholder panel discussion during the International Alliance of Patients’ Organization’s ( IAPO ) 6th Global Patients Congress, held in the UK on 29-31 March 2014. This was supported by Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer ( CMO ), UK Government, in her keynote address, who emphasised the importance of patient and public involvement: ‘Healthcare research should be carried out by and with members of the public, not just done for or to the public.’
New Delhi, India, 17 December 2013 – “It is time that we came together as one voice” was the call from Dr Ratna Devi, CEO, DakshamA Health & Education Foundation, to patients’ organizations gathered at IAPO’s first multi-stakeholder seminar held in South-East Asia yesterday. The seminar entitled, ‘Meeting patients’ needs in South-East Asia – effective strategies for tackling NCDs and improving patient safety’, explored relevant issues in healthcare systems and patients’ needs from around the region.
Mexico City, Mexico, 24 September 2013 – “To achieve patient-centred access to healthcare in Latin America, patients need to be informed, empowered and involved in shaping our healthcare systems” stated Eva Maria Ruiz de Castilla, IAPO Governing Board Member. This echoed the discussions of the participants at the International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO) multi-stakeholder seminar ‘Patient-centred access to healthcare in Latin America’ held yesterday.
