Events and Activities happening around the world 

 

-Health First Europe (HFE) will be launching the Decalartion for Patient Safety which calls upon health authorities, policymakers, healthcare professionals, providers and patients to join hands to prevent unnecessary harm in health care settings by promoting safer health systems and higher quality standards for patient safety across Europe. The ten calls for action of the Declaration have already been endorsed by several European, national and international organisations (full list available here). HFE is currently contacting national and regional representatives to collect their success stories on patient safety measures to be shared across Europe. -In partnership with the Spanish Forum of Patients HFE will also be presenting a joint letter to the to the Spanish Ministry of Health calling for fostering national actions on patient safety.

 

-Health First Europe is also organising a workshop on surveillance system and patient safety at the Gastein Forum on 2nd October. More information available here.

 

-Canadian Patient Safety Institute in partnership with Patients for Patient Safety Canada, Health Standards Organization and CAE Healthcare will be hosting the screening of the patient safety documentary To Err is Human on September 17, 2019 from 3:00PM Eastern Time Zone from Ottawa, Canada. Additionally, a free global virtual broadcast will be available (anyone can join from anywhere in the world with an internet connection).This documentary interviews healthcare leaders, highlights real-world efforts toward safer care and explores one family’s compelling journey from victimhood to empowerment. After the film, senior Canadian healthcare leaders will discuss important healthcare issues facing Canadians today. The discussion will continue at an informal reception. -The Danish Society for Patient Safety are organizing an awards ceremony to recognize patient safety champions. The Danish patient safety ambassadors who will be honoured have done some great work contributing to patient safety.  Read all about it here.

 

-Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in the US will light up the Zakim Bridge in Boston, where IHI is headquartered in orange as a away to honour and mark the campaign.

 

- The centre for Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety are organizing a flash mob on the 17th September at 5pm in Florence, Piazza della Repubblica (Repubblica Square). The Flash Mob is a dedication to the promotion of handwashing and will be invlove health workers and citizen present in the square.

 

- Imperial College London will be hosting a World Patient Safety Day Conference of Global Leaders on Patient Safety at 10 -11 Carlton House Terrace, on 17th September at 13:30-17:00, followed by a reception. The event will feature international and UK patient safety leaders as keynote speakers and panellists.  

 

-National Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner in Namibia will conduct a healthcare workers training on patient safety, including rapid response emergency on outbreak of hospital acquired infections.

 

-The Fight the Fakes Campaign are holding a digital social media campaign. Follow them @FightTheFakes to keep up with their latest activities.
