Is increased transparency enough?
Focus on industry activity has traditionally been on ensuring that promotional activities are not only legal but also ethical. More recently, the spotlight has fallen on concerns about the transparency of clinical trial data and of payments to healthcare professionals (HCPs). Increased transparency by companies is undoubtedly a step in the right direction towards building trust in the pharmaceutical industry and confidence in its links with the healthcare profession. However, is increased transparency enough?
The panel
The panel will be jointly hosted by GSK and IAPO and will debate the current state of industry interactions with the healthcare profession, some of the perceived conflicts of interest that exist, and how they might be addressed. The panel will include representatives from GSK, IAPO, the World Medical Association and Transparency International UK.
