World Menengitis Day 2019

Wednesday, 24 April 2019

“Every 24th of April, World Meningitis Day is marked to raise awareness on meningitis, a deadly disease that can kill in under 24 hours. This year’s theme is Life #AfterMeningitis and highlights the long-lasting impact of the disease and the diversity of after effects which may include, but are not limited to: memory loss, deafness, loss of sight, epilepsy, paralysis, limb loss, organ damage, and brain damage.

Speak to your local healthcare provider to learn which vaccines are available to you as there are multiple meningitis vaccines. Not all forms of meningitis are vaccine preventable however, so learning the signs and symptoms is essential so people can protect themselves and the ones they care about.“
