In commemoration of World Patient Safety Day, World Health Organization (WHO) is organizing a Global Conference entitled “Engaging patients for patient safety” on 12 and 13 September in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference offers a unique opportunity for diverse stakeholders to come together, share their experiences and discuss strategies for enhancing patient safety through patient engagement. The event seeks to foster collaboration, identify best practices, and pave the way for their widespread implementation across various healthcare settings. The conference will feature:

• Patient and health worker stories and testimonies
• Panel discussions on patient and family engagement interventions by countries, partners and patient organizations
• Panel discussion on advancing patient safety in the human rights agenda
• Review of a draft Patient Safety Rights Charter by meeting participants
• Launch of WHO technical resources
