The 74th session of the World Health Organization’s Regional Committee for Africa (RC74) occurred on 26-30 August 2024 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

The Regional Committee serves as the decision-making body for WHO in the region, meeting annually to discuss and approve policies, initiatives, and financial plans focused on enhancing the health of the African population.

IAPO delivered an individual statement on Pillar 1: One billion more people benefitting from universal health coverage – Agenda item 18.1: Progress report on the Framework for strengthening the use of evidence, information and research for policy-making in the African Region (Document AFR/RC74/INF.DOC/2).

In alignment with the recently adopted resolution on social participation for universal health coverage, health, and well-being at the 77th World Health Assembly, IAPO urged Member States from the African region to fully commit to its implementation while underscoring the Framework's guiding principle of citizen participation from research to policy development.
