New tool: WHO Academy COVID-19 learning app

New tool: WHO Academy COVID-19 learning app

Wednesday, 13 May 2020

WHO has recently launched a new learning app targeted specifically to health workers who need accurate, extensive, reliable, and timely information on COVID-19 to save lives and stay safe.

The app was created in direct response to an online survey of health works conducted by the WHO Academy in March and April 2020, to which they received over 20,000 responses. It provides detailed information and tools addressing key areas of concerns for health workers responding to the outbreak. Its main areas of focus include:

  • Infection prevention control
  • Case management
  • Use of personal protective equipment
  • Staff safety and health
  • Risk communication & community engagement

The app provides health workers everywhere with an efficient way to access the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 knowledge resources all in one place, including up-to-the-minute guidance, tools, training, self-paced learning, and virtual workshops to support health workers in caring for patients infected by COVID-19 – as well on how they can protect themselves as they do their critical work.

With content in 6 languages – Arabic Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish – the app is a convenient tool for accessing WHO’s rapidly expanding and evolving training materials and guidance, along with opportunities to participate in virtual skills workshops and other live training.

The app is available on the
