Sharing the patient voice on a global scale

IAPO will be attending and making interventions at the World Health Organization’s Executive Board meeting in Geneva, Switzerland in January 2015.
This is a great opportunity to represent the patient voice on a global level. The Executive Board plays a key part in defining global health issues and creating policies which impact regional decision-making and national health systems around the world. We will be attending the meeting as a result of our official relations with WHO, coordinated through their Patients for Patient Safety work.
What will be discussed?
The agenda will cover a full range of global issues including ongoing WHO reform, the role of non-state actors, progress in action to address communicable and non-communicable diseases, and the impact of Ebola on health systems and communities.
Our staff will take the opportunity to meet with other healthcare stakeholders during the event. Those attending include high level delegates from around the world including Ministers of Health, WHO regional directors, and representatives from a range of non-state actors such as academics, philanthropists, industry representatives and civil society.
Future updates
We will update members following the Executive Board meeting through the newsletter and a policy webinar.
