Our plan for 2015-2017: strengthening the patient voice

Friday, 28 November 2014

Over the last few months, IAPO has been working on a new strategic plan for 2015 to 2017.

We have consulted with members and other stakeholders, looked at changes in the external environment and drawn on the expertise of our Governing Board, staff and wider network to produce a focused plan for next few years. The plan has been approved by the Governing Board and is in the design stage before publication.

Our key theme

Over the next three years, the key theme underpinning all IAPO’s objectives will be universal health coverage from the patients’ perspective. All three pillars of universal health coverage are important, but financing will be the global priority over the next three years. We want to ensure that the patient voice is raised as high in this pillar as it is in equity and quality.

IAPO will lead the patient voice on global healthcare issues, advance patient engagement and continue to empower the global patient movement, to the benefit of patients and citizens all over the world.

Update coming soon

A brief report of our findings and finalised strategic plan is being prepared. This will be available on our website towards the end of the year. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in this process.

Linda Craig, Operations Director, who carried out part of the consultation says,

“it was a privilege to be able to speak with so many individuals who are engaged with and enthusiastic about IAPO and what it can help the global patients movement achieve”.
