Our business and affairs are supervised and directed by the Governing Board. This Board comprises elected representatives from our full and associate member organizations.

Terms of Board Members

Under IAPO's governing document, Board Members do not have fixed terms, but "retire by rotation". Their term is usually three years, but could be two or four years. After their first term they are eligible for re-election, and this term could also be uncertain. 
 

Our Board structure

Many of our Governing Board are patients themselves or are patient representatives such as a parent or carer. All have living and working relationships with patients through their organizations. Our Board meets quarterly with at least one face-to-face meeting each year, and maintains active engagement through additional online meetings throughout  the year.
