AMATA Side event at the 75th World Health Assembly “Co-creating the future of the African Medicines Agency”

Wednesday, 25 May 2022
The African Medicines Agency (AMA) creates an unprecedented opportunity for improved regulatory reliance and strengthening resulting in speeder access to medicines and vaccines for people throughout the continent. Moreover, it represents, for many countries, the promise of the development of local production, and the development, across the continent, of centers of excellence for research, the strengthening and security of supply chains, for the maintenance of a healthy environment and the fight against falsified medicines.

The event will focus on the importance of a strong African Medicines Agency to ensure Africa is better prepared for this and future pandemics and for health system strengthening throughout the Continent.  This will be a unique opportunity for state and non-state actors to discuss the hurdles that need to be overcome and the measures that can be envisaged to make AMA successful and sustainable.
