Patient Solidarity Day takes place each December. Thousands of people from around the world rally around one key issue facing patients and raise awareness by hosting events and showing support for the Day.

Patient Solidarity Day 2020

On 4th December 2020, health stakeholders from all over the world will stand together, united in a celebration of Patient Solidarity Day (PSD 2020). This will be the eighth year running that we have joined hands to mark the Day. On PSD 2020, IAPO members, patients, various healthcare organizations, policy-makers, academia, institutions, industry and other stakeholders will come together to call for patient engagement and co-creation in building back better health systems.

The theme, 'Building back better health systems post Covid-19', will allow us to rally around a key tenet of IAPO’s Patient-centred Healthcare Declaration, that patients must have access to safe, quality and appropriate treatments as warranted by their conditions.

PSD 2020 will be a moment to urge the whole of government and whole of society to work with the whole of the patient community in national unity and global solidarity to ensure we build back better health systems post Covid-19 through integrating patient engagement and patient co-creation in health system strengthening across the whole spectrum of healthcare. From health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care by improving :
Health system governance
Health literacy and health informatics
Service delivery
Human Resources and Health Workforce
Safety, quality and access to essential and innovative medicines and health devices
Health financing and other resources
