Patient Solidarity Day 2015 theme announced

Thursday, 1 October 2015
Thank you to every IAPO member who voted on the theme for Patient Solidarity Day 2015. We had many responses and are excited to launch a truly member-centred, member-driven event – chosen by you!

Without further ado, the most popular theme among members is...

Healthcare is a human right

This year’s theme matches the current health landscape and resonates with patients from different countries and cultures across the globe.

With the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals, there is greater focus on the rights of each person and what we must do to protect and sustain these rights. Health is no exception. WHO describes ‘the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health as a fundamental right of every human being.’

We whole-heartedly believe this.

Next steps

We will be developing further messaging, resources and guidance around ‘healthcare is a human right’, including a culturally sensitive alternative. These resources are for you. Please join us in this campaign. As members and supporters embrace Patient Solidarity Day, we will raise awareness, change perspectives and improve the lives of patients all over the world.
