Open Call for Congress 2020 presentations
Each Congress, in line with our mission of actively working with patients' organizations and building them up to be as effective as possible, IAPO is increasingly creating ways of facilitating patients’ participation at the Congress through holding Open Calls for member organizations who are interested in contributing to the event as speakers, rapporteurs, or poster exhibitors. This opportunity comes with a bursary scheme designed to assist with the attendance of an IAPO representative that would otherwise not be represented at the Congress due to financial restraints.
This year's theme
The Congress theme is ‘Innovative healthcare: co-planning, co-designing and co-delivery’.
A key principle of patient-centred healthcare is patient engagement in co-creation of safe innovation is crucial, but what does this look like? According to IAPO’s Declaration on Patient-Centred Healthcare, patients have a right and responsibility to participate, to their level of ability and preference, as a partner in making healthcare decisions that affect their lives. The Congress multi-stakeholder programme will explore patient-centred health innovation as it relates to the theme: Co-planning, Co-designing & Co-delivery in all world regions. At the Congress, we wish to showcase the best work already going on at many different levels and areas. Delegates will exchange ideas, engage with regional colleagues and draw on the energy and expertise of others to enhance their work.
At the 2018 Global Patients Congress in Miami (USA), 10 IAPO members were selected through the Open Call scheme. That translated in having one IAPO member representing the patient voice in every panel of the event. In addition to that, members had the opportunity to exhibit posters showcasing their organization’s impact and outcomes related to the Congress theme.
If you are an IAPO member and wish to ensure that IAPO’s biggest forum is truly patient-centred, don’t miss out on the opportunity to apply for the 2020 GPC Open Call.
The Open Call will close on Thursday 20 February 2020 (23:59 GMT). Any applications recieved after this time may not be included and so please ensure you meet the deadline.
