“Safeguarding Blood Transfusion” at the 70th World Health Assembly

In collaboration with our partners Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF),  World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) and International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), IAPO will be holding a side event entitled “Safeguarding blood safety for the multi-transfused patients” at the 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva, on Friday 26th May 2017.

Linked to WHA70 agenda item of “Principles for global consensus on the donation and management of blood, blood components and medical products of human origin”, the event will focus on raising discussion on what is needed to safeguard blood safety for the multi-transfused patients in the new consensus framework , the patient perspective on the principles of global consensus on donation and management of blood and blood products, how  joint actions and efforts among countries can develop a consensus to prioritise safety of blood on their national agendas and lastly,  how the implementation of quality standards of blood, can ensure/ safeguard the safety of the patients most at risk.
