The Sixty-ninth Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean will be held in hybrid format in Cairo, Egypt, from 10 to 13 October 2022, under Special procedures for the conduct of the hybrid session of the Regional Committee for Eastern Mediterranean.

IAPO will join health ministers and high level representatives at the WHO Regional Committee for Eastern Mediterranean as a non-state actor in official relations with WHO at this meeting. 

Key technical health issues on the agenda include:

• Strengthening clinical trials to provide high-quality evidence on health interventions and to improve research quality and coordination
• Global Health for Peace Initiative
• Well-being and health promotion
• Regional strategy for fostering digital health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (2023–2027)
• Advancing the implementation of One Health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
• Promoting health and well-being in the Eastern Mediterranean Region: moving from theory to action to achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals
• Accelerating the prevention, control and elimination of communicable diseases through integration: optimizing support from Gavi and the Global Fund
• Building resilient health systems to advance universal health coverage and promote health security in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
