Bakken Invitation Award: living with a medical device

Thursday, 30 July 2015
Do you benefit from living with a medical device? Take part in the Bakken Invitation Award and win a grant for an NGO and a trip to Hawaii!

The Bakken Invitation Award celebrates and connects people living with medical technology and making a positive difference with their “extra” life. Inspired by Earl Bakken, the co-founder of Medtronic, this program recognises the power of patients. Every day, you and your organization likely work with people who represent the spirit of this program…people who, with the help of medical technology, are making the world a better place.

Every year, the Bakken Invitation Award honours ten extraordinary people who are giving back. You are invited to nominate someone who inspires you. Each selected honoree will earn a $20,000 charitable grant to be directed to a nonprofit organization of his or her choice, and a trip to a celebration event in Hawaii with Medtronic co-founder Earl Bakken.

How to apply

To qualify for the Bakken Invitation Award, applicants 14 years or older must use a medical device therapy to treat the following disease categories: heart disease, diabetes, chronic pain, spinal disorders, or neurological, gastroenterology and urological disorders. They do not have to be a Medtronic product. All applicants with eligible medical technology, regardless of device manufacturer, can apply or be nominated.

Apply or find out more information here.

Applications for the 2015 award will be accepted until 30 July. A selection committee will review all nominations, and applicants will be notified in September.
