High-Level Panel on Migration and Structural Transformation in Africa
12:00 - 14:00, Conference Room IV, UN Headquarters
New York, United States of America
The main purpose of the event is to provide a platform to discuss how to maximize the economic and developmental impacts of migration. Pioneering work on this subject in Africa is the focus of UNCTAD’s Economic Development in Africa Report 2018: Migration for Structural Transformation.
The High-Level Panel seeks to foster integrated policies and strategies, deepen cooperation and partnerships, and enhance support to utilize migration management to strengthen the pooling of resources across the humanitarian, environmental, security and development pillars for ensuring an economically sustainable structural transformation. It will bring together high-level officials from Member States, the African Union, various organizations, civil society, academia, and the media.
Due to limited seating available, a special pass will be needed to attend the event. Please RSVP to UNCTADNY1@un.org with your name and contact information to ensure that a pass is made available.
