Activity ideas for participating in PSD 2021

There are many ways to advocate for accelerating of progress toward implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 to ensure zero patient harm globally. We have put together some examples of activities to give you some inspiration. These activities range from raising awareness, campaigning, through to creating opportunities for effectively engaging with key decision-makers in healthcare.

  • Use the #PSD2021, #PatientSolidarityDay2021 and #PatientSafety on social media.

 

  • Create a thematic issue for your organization’s newsletter focused on patient engagement and co-creation in the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 (GPSAP 21-30) to ensure zero patient harm globally.

 

  • Hold an online workshop, offering opportunities for patients to speak about their own experiences with healthcare safety and how the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 will improve things. Share these experiences via short articles with us to promote patient safety stories in the delivery of safe healthcare.

 

  • Host an online webinar to discuss patient engagement and co-creation in the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 in your country. Invite a range of stakeholders to speak on the panel.

 

  • Develop communication materials on accelerating progress for patient engagement and co-creation in the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 and share via social media.

 

  • Create and deliver petitions and letters to decision-makers calling for them to implement the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 through drawing up National Patient Safety Action Plans to mirror the GPSAP 21-30 and implement it faithfully within your health system, as envisioned by WHO, to eliminate all avoidable harm for patients in the area/country/region.

 

  • Create a Facebook page to promote the plan’s ideas and gather online support for a policy intervention aiming to promote patient co-creation in the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 (GPSAP 21-30) to ensure zero patient harm globally.in your area/region/country.

 

  • Send letters to the Ministry of Health in your country, WHO regional offices, health system providers, local clinics and health professional bodies, calling on them to support PSD 2021.

 

  • Identify and engage with key players linked to healthcare, such as health professionals associations and industry representative bodies who have a strong collective voice in health policy-making and start discussions around the how patients can be engaged in the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 (GPSAP 21-30) to ensure zero patient harm globally.

 

  • Create a media strategy to spread the word on social media and engage as many people as possible in the campaign.

 

  • Create a space on your website where patients can vocalise what patient engagement and co-creation in making zero avoidable harm to patients a state of mind and a rule of engagement in the planning and delivery of healthcare everywhere means to them.
