We thank two long-standing Board members
We would like to thank both KP Tsang and Eva Maria Ruiz de Castilla, who have left the IAPO Governing Board after many years of service.
KP has been on the Board since 2008 and served as IAPO Chair from 2013-2015. Jolanta Bilińska, current IAPO Chair, said:
‘I would like to thank KP, on behalf of the Board and staff, for his time as a Board member and Chair of IAPO. Many new member organizations joined IAPO during this time, and under his guidance we delivered a wonderful Global Patients Congress dedicated to Universal Health Coverage (UHC), along with a set of Principles on UHC from the patients’ point of view. We also published the popular Biosimilars Toolkit, and he was the new IAPO strategic plan 2015–2017.
KP is a knowledgeable, committed and enthusiastic advocate for patients and patients’ issues at every level of care. He always had time for others, and his expertise on policy and regulations helped to communicate with and influence decision-makers to the benefit of patients globally, regionally and locally. His support and guidance was also significant during the challenging task of recruiting a new IAPO CEO. Many people who met KP during his IAPO activities say: he is an excellent person, modest and sensitive.'

Eva Maria joined the IAPO Governing Board in 2010 and served as Secretary from 2013 to 2015. Jolanta Bilińska said:
‘Eva Maria’s dedication and energy for IAPO’s cause has not gone unnoticed.
Her commitment to strengthening the network of Latin American patients’ groups, and representing IAPO at regional and international level (such as WHO, UN, PAHO), went above and beyond what was expected. She led with passion and a sincere interest in helping members gain a real sense of what role they can play, in not only moving the IAPO mission forward, but working within their own country to improve patient-centred healthcare. The regional meetings are a cornerstone of our work and she has been a cornerstone of IAPO.
Eva Maria and KP will be missed on the board of IAPO, but we know they will remain active in the organization and remain in our hearts. All the best to you both and we look forward to seeing you at the 7th Global Patients Congress!’
