How important is safe and quality primary healthcare in the UHC 2030 equation?

How important is safe and quality primary healthcare in the UHC 2030 equation?

Monday, 12 December 2022

On 12 December 2022 from 4pm -5:15pm GMT, IAPO and IAPO P4PS Observatory as strong supporters and advocates for universal health coverage (UHC)  and person-centred healthcare, are organizing this joint webinar to discuss the importance of a safe and quality primary healthcare (PHC) as part of UHC.

Having reached the midpoint of Member States’ efforts to implement the UN Resolution to progress towards universal health coverage (UHC) by 2030, our health systems need to not only justify the additional investment to repair the COVID-19 related damage, but also investment to accelerate progress towards UHC.

Under the United Nations High Level Political Meeting Declaration on UHC, Member States promised to invest in extending their healthcare services to cover more of their population, enhance their basic healthcare service packages by including comprehensive and innovative services, and reduce the out-of-pocket costs for patients. Health should be perceived not as a reward for development, but as its prerequisite.

The Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021-2030 advocates that we must build foundations for safer healthcare systems delivering quality healthcare services to the population in order to build trust and confidence in our health systems. To eliminate avoidable harm in healthcare, we must develop and build safer UHC 2030. The Declaration of Astana envisages that the core building block of UHC 2030 is the primary healthcare (PHC). The Declaration aims for every country to develop an accessible, acceptable and an affordable safe and quality PHC.

This webinar will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation to Spanish.

We invite you to join us.
