Advocating for Patient Involvement in Clinical Guidelines: the experience of the Pelvic Pain Support Network and the World Federation of Incontinent Patients.  

 

What was achieved?

The Pelvic Pain Support Network (PPSN) and the World Federation of Incontinent Patients (WFIP) worked together through IAPO's Twinning Service which partners patients' organizations for mutual learning and support. Through their joint advocacy work, PPSN and WFIP have achieved:

  • Increased patient involvement in the design and implementation of clinical guidelines
  • Election to the board of umbrella and multistakeholder patient-centred organizations
  • Membership of government and other healthcare advisory forums
