The pressing issue of biosimilar medicines
Eva Maria Ruiz de Castilla, IAPO Board member, will be involved in several sessions during the Convention. She will moderate the 'Biologics Regulation in Latin America: Emerging Trends' panel on Thursday 18 June, and will be a member of the 'How to Achieve Successful Marketing Authorization for Orphan Products: Experiences from Both Sides of the Atlantic' panel, which will be held on Wednesday 17 June.
Patricia Gaillard Olokose, our Regional Coordinator, will be demonstrating our Latin American platform during the Convention too.
Our biosimilar resources
This will build on our previous biosimilar medicines work. In 2014, we launched the Biological and Biosimilar Medicines: An Information and Advocacy Toolkit for Patients' Organizations, This toolkit provides patients’ organizations with up-to-date, evidence-based information on the science, technology and regulatory information relevant to biological and biosimilar medicines, as well as tips on advocacy. It is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Earlier in 2015, we launched the IAPO Americas platform, a resource on biological and biosimilar medicines created for patients, the organizations who represent them and those who want to understand more about how these issues affect patients in Latin America. Read more here.
