Member participation needed!
Poor-quality medicines are a global crisis. They threaten progress on nearly all of the world’s health priorities and disproportionately affect the poorest and most marginalized communities. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in low- and middle-income countries, almost 1 in ten medicines is substandard or falsified.
To raise awareness of the human impact of poor-quality medicines, IAPO is teaming up with organizations across the world – through the #MedsWeCanTrust campaign – to tell the stories of those most affected by this. We’re looking for stories focused on patients and families, health workers and providers, policymakers, and community leaders.
We’re looking for:
- Patients and families who were personally affected by substandard or falsified medicines
- Health workers and practitioners who face dilemmas including the concern that they are administering potentially poor-quality medicines and the strategies they use to address these issues and protect their patients
- Policymakers who are prioritizing the issue of medicines quality and serve as thoughtful stewards of patient health and trust
- Community leaders who are raising awareness of the issue and advocating for change at local and national levels
If you know of any stories that demonstrate the human impact of poor-quality medicines, please fill out this survey or email info@medswecantrust.org. These stories will help inform future campaign materials and could be used to pitch media around relevant milestones. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
